Feature walls are a great way to add impact to your bathroom design. Often a feature wall is bolder than your remaining walls – these tend to be plain and neutral by contrast. The advantage of this is it allows for experimentation in your design without overwhelming the space.

Here are our suggestions for a feature wall that fits any bathroom:

Wallpaper designs

A particular favourite of ours is choosing a beautiful wallpaper that complements the colours of your other walls and bathroom furniture. A bright flower design on a dark background is something we’ve used in many of our designs and we feel this levels up the sophistication in the room. A floral mural can elevate a darker wall, too, so it doesn’t overwhelm the space.

It goes without saying that a feature wall should be an opposite colour to your other walls, but if you’re afraid of bright hues in general, we think this is the perfect way to introduce shades you might not be 100% comfortable with putting everywhere.

Wall art

You can use your feature wall to present a series of prints and posters you love to display – maybe these don’t fit anywhere else in your house, but tucked away in your bathroom, they add a touch of visual excitement.

Create a shelfie/display

Similar to the above, you can combine your design skills with practical application by installing shelving to display your found objects, candles, artwork frames and other fun miscellaneous items. If you want to instil some holiday vibes, place a few shells and trinkets in your cubby holes or on your shelves to remind you of happy memories each time you take a refreshing shower or settle down for a luxurious bath.
