For the last few months, every social media feed has shown us various creative endeavours our friends and furloughed colleagues have been taking up to pass the time.
Finally, the time came in a lot of people’s lives to experience something of a sabbatical and start work on a personal project. You know the kind of thing – the ones you say you’ll do “one day” but usually don’t.
For most, it’s been an extended time to put in place a new fitness routine, get out watercolour brushes, or perfect your bake-off confections.
Ambiance Bain customers Jo and Andy had a different kind of personal project in mind.
As many of you reading this will know, we have various suppliers who fit our bathroom furniture and shower products for customers, but these have been closed for much of lockdown.
Sadly, that has meant that many customers have had to wait for their dream bathroom, but the couple weren’t going to be put off.
Sourcing the bathroom supplies from Unique Bathroom and Plumbing Supplies in Southampton, Jo and Andy set to work installing her own ensuite bathroom. Up to this point, the couple had no experience as bathroom fitters but were determined to give it a go. Sure enough, the world of YouTube came into its own.
There were various tutorials featuring bathroom products delivered by installation experts, where Jo and Andy found all the information needed to put it all together. That’s not to say there weren’t any challenges.
“Due to lockdown we had to do it all ourselves, YouTube came in very handy for plumbing, soldering etc and we can now tile and grout! Getting the stuff up two flights of stairs in our town house wasn’t fun though.”
Jo and Andy’s ensuite is now complete and kitted out with a stunning Dolce double basin unit (DOLC700) and matching Tall wall hung WC unit in Inari – a beautifully stripped grey wood effect for a contemporary twist on a nature-inspired bathroom, enhanced by the choice of co-ordinating tiles.
They’ve also added some elegant finishing touches including our LED mood lit mirror (MODCURMIRGB) for added drama.
Now Jo and Andy are able to tile, grout and solder, they’re ready to put their new skills to good use on their next project: the family bathroom.
“We’re thinking of using the same furniture and tiles but just working on the design. It’s got to be as fantastic as this one looks.”
Thanks to Jo and Andy for sharing their personal story with us. We love hearing our customer stories and seeing finished projects.
